Resolutions of KNC 22nd Conference
June 4-6, 2010, San Diego State University, California

The KNC 22nd conference has adopted the following resolutions. The conference,

  1. Reiterates our full support to our people who are under occupation in all parts of Kurdistan.

  1. Urges the international community to pressure the Turkish, Iranian, Syrian, and Iraqi governments to recognize the Kurdish national rights.

  1. Encourages the Turkish government to cease hostilities against the people of Kurdistan-Turkey and look for a peaceful solution to the Kurdish issue. We remind the Turkish authorities that the Kurdish issue can only be resolved through political means. To resolve this problem, Turkish authorities need to amend the Turkish Constitution where the Kurdish national and democratic rights are respected; and Turkish discriminatory policies against our people are stopped.

  1. Expresses our full support to the peaceful struggle of our Kurdish people in Kurdistan-Syria. We encourage the Syrian government to amend its Constitution where the Kurdish national and democratic rights are fully recognized. We also ask the Kurdish political parties in Kurdistan-Syria to establish a comprehensive Kurdistani front and continue to use peaceful means in their struggle to obtain Kurdish national goals.

  1. Expresses our full support to the peaceful struggle of our people in Kurdistan-Iran. We encourage the Iranian government to stop persecuting Kurdish democratic and human rights activists and put an end to its discriminatory policies toward the people of Kurdistan. Further, we encourage the Iranian authorities to look for a political solution to the Kurdish issue.

  1. Reiterates our supports to the KRG. We recognize the difficult challenges facing the Kurdistani leadership in Iraq.  Additionally, we encourage the Kurdish authorities to fight corruption and nepotism. We also urge the KRG to provide an opportunity for all citizens of Kurdistan to have equal access to quality education and health services.

  1. Encourages Turkey’s and Iran’s authorities to stop their bombardment on and destruction of villages in Kurdistan-Iraq. We believe their action is a clear violation of international laws. Therefore, we urge them to respect the sovereignty of Kurdistan-Iraq and engage in dialog and negotiations with the KRG and Iraqi governments to find a viable solution to the existing problems.

  1. Urges the KRG to do all it can to put an end to the societal illnesses and violations against women. All form of discrimination against Kurdish women must stop. We encourage the KRG to provide equal opportunity for women to promote their social, political and academic status.

  1. Urges the KRG to safeguard freedom of expression and protect the lives of journalists.

  1. We urge the Kurdish organizations, political parties, and independent personalities to work together toward achieving common national goals.
